Charge Advance to Second Round of Playoffs

PORTLAND, ME – The Cleveland Charge (no. 5 seed)  defeated the Maine Celtics (no. 4 seed), 113-100, to win their opening round game of the 2023 NBA G League Playoffs presented by Google Pixel.  The Charge advance to face the Eastern Conference’s top seed, the Long Island Nets (Brooklyn Nets), at the Nassau Coliseum on Friday, March 31st at 12:00 p.m. 

Cleveland was led by Nate Hinton’s double-double of 22 points on 10-of-17 from the field with 16 rebounds in 46 minutes.  Sam Merrill scored a game-high 28 points on 6-of-13 three-point shooting with five boards and five assists in 45 minutes on assignment from the Cavs.  Sharife Cooper scored 23 points and dished out 11 assists with three steals in 35 minutes.  Dylan Windler added 19 points and eight rebounds in 34 minutes on assignment from the Cavs.  Two-Way Isaiah Mobley scored 15 points  with six boards and five assists in 38 minutes.

Maine was paced by J.D. Davison’s 27 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals in 37 minutes off the bench.  Kamar Baldwin added 16 points, six rebounds and eight assists in 39 minutes.  After holding a 14 point lead at halftime, the Celtics were outscored 39-11 in the third quarter.

Friday’s Charge-Nets second round playoff matchup in Long Island will be broadcast live on ESPN2.  Charge fans can also listen to Charge play-by-play announcer Scott Zurilla call the action live on NEO Sports Radio on the iHeartRadio mobile app.
