Charge Come Back to Sweep Knicks

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The Cleveland Charge (2-1) overcame a 17-point second half deficit to beat the Westchester Knicks (0-2), 99-97, at Total Mortgage Arena on Tuesday night to take a back-to-back set.   

Down 87-75 with 10:59 left in the game, the Charge rolled off an 11-0 run to get within a point.  The Knicks kept it a 1-2 possession game from there and held a 97-91 lead with 2:19 remaining.  Cleveland held the hosts scoreless the rest of the way while converting 6-of-7 free throws and a layup to pull ahead late and secure the win.

The Charge’s Sharife Cooper scored 25 points on 9-of-15 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the foul line with five assists in 31 minutes.  Sam Merrill netted 20 points with five assists and four steals in 38 minutes.  Didi Louzada scored 13 points and grabbed six boards in 27 minutes.  Rashad Vaughn added 11 points and five steals in 31 minutes off the bench.

Westchester was paced by Quinton Rose’s game-high 27 points on 5-of-7 three pointers and four steals in 33 minutes.  Garrison Brooks posted a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds in 38 minutes for the Knicks.
