Charge Come Up Short to Blue Coats

CLEVELAND, OH – The Cleveland Charge (4-19) of the NBA G League, presented by Cleveland Clinic, were defeated at home Tuesday evening by the Delaware Blue Coats (17-6), 130-118.
Three Charge players scored 20+ points, led by Tacko Fall’s 10th double-double of the season of 23 points and 12 rebounds with three blocks in 24 minutes. Malik Newman had his fourth-straight 20+ point scoring game with 23 points on 8-of-14 from the field with four assists in 36 minutes. Cam Young had his first double-double with Cleveland by scoring 23 points and grabbing 10 boards with two steals in 39 minutes. Justin James had an all-around effort of 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes. Josh Huestis added 13 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench.

The Blue Coats were led by 76ers Assignment Jaden Springer’s game-high 30 points to go along with nine rebounds, six assists and seven steals in 33 minutes. Shamorie Ponds came off the bench to score 23 points, five boards and three steals in 24 minutes. Also on assignment from Philadelphia, Charles Bassey scored 21 points on 9-of-12 from the field with seven rebounds in 24 minutes.
