Charge Defeat Ignite at Showcase

ORLANDO, FL – The Cleveland Charge (6-9) were victorious over NBA G League Ignite (4-11), 100-88, in their first of two games at the 2023 NBA G League Winter Showcase.  

A trio of 20+ point scorers led the Charge to the win: Pete Nance posted his second double-double of the season with a 24-point, 12 rebound effort in 36 minutes.  Zhaire Smith scored a season-high 23 on 9-of-13 from the field with a pair of steals in 37 minutes.  Rob Edwards came off the bench to score a season-high 20 points with eight boards in 26 minutes.  Aleem Ford hit 5-of-6 threes in the third quarter for all 15 of his points in the period.  Sharife Cooper added 11 points and seven assists in 31 minutes. 

Ignite were paced by Cleveland State’s Norris Cole scoring 15 points and dishing five assists in 23 minutes off the bench.  John Jenkins scored 15 points and nabbed two steals in 34 minutes.  The Charge defense set a new season-best mark for points in a half and game by holding the Ignite to 37 points in the second half and 88 overall.
