Charge Fall to Nets in Season Finale

ORLANDO, FL – The Canton Charge (5-10), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, ended their 2021 season with a 116-107 loss to the Long Island Nets (7-8) on Saturday afternoon at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.
Down by as much as 11 in the third, Canton notched a 10-2 run, which included six points from Ty-Shon Alexander, to close out the quarter and take a four-point edge going into the final period. Both teams battled for buckets with Sheldon Mac converting on the and-one to stretch the lead to seven at the 9:43 mark, but, in a game that saw 12 lead changes, the Nets responded with a 14-0 run to come away with the victory.
Two-Way Player Alexander tallied the first 30-point game of this career, including 11 in the first quarter and seven threes in 32 minutes of action. BrodricThomas finished the day with 25 points, going 10-for-21 from the floor, while veteran Levi Randolph rounded out the double-digit scorers with 15 points in 30 minutes. Marques Bolden led in the Charge in the paint with eight rebounds and six points.

Long Island’s Jeremiah Martin led all scorers with 36, including 14 in the fourth quarter, while shooting 16-23 from the floor in 36 minutes of action. Two-Way Player Reggie Perry followed with a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds while BJ Johnson tallied a 23p/10r double-double, including going 4-for-6 from behind the arc. CJ Massinburg finished the day with 21 points in 32 minutes while Shannon Scott notched a game-high nine assists to go along with seven rebounds and two points.
The Nets took the reins to start the game, taking a six-point lead midway through the first quarter, but Alexander and Brodric Thomas led the Charge back, taking a two-point advantage into the second. Long Island responded in the second with a 13-0 run over almost six minutes of action, but Thomas knocked down the three to break the run and helped the Charge cut the deficit to five going into the break.
