Charge Stifle Herd

OSHKOSH, WI – The Cleveland Charge (3-0) came back to defeat the Wisconsin Herd (1-3), 96-93, at the Oshkosh Arena on Thursday night.     

Down 83-79 to begin the fourth quarter, Cleveland turned up the defensive intensity by holding the Herd scoreless for the opening 6:17 of the period.  The Charge held the hosts to just 10 points and forced six turnovers in the fourth to complete the two-game road sweep.

Jamorko Pickett posted his third double-double in as many games this season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 19 rebounds with a pair of blocks in 42 minutes.  Isaiah Mobley netted a team-high 22 points with five rebounds and two steals in 34 minutes.  Sharife Cooper poured in 21 points with eight boards and eight assists in 37 minutes.  Sam Merrill added 16 points and nine boards in 38 minutes for Cleveland.

Wisconsin was paced by Joe Wieskamp’s game-high 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting with eight rebounds and two blocks in 29 minutes.  Jontay Porter came off the bench to provide 14 points and 15 rebounds, including seven offensive rebounds, in 30 minutes.  Rob Edwards scored 17 points and grabbed nine boards in 29 minutes.  The Herd led by as many as 12 tonight, including 81-69 with 3:17 left in the third period before only scoring two points for 9:34 of game time.
