Charge Streak Snapped in Iowa

DES MOINES, IA – The Cleveland Charge (11-5) fell in their final game of the Showcase Cup portion of the season, snapping a five-game winning streak in a defeat to the Iowa Wolves (11-5), 133-130, at the Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday night.

Sharife Cooper had his second straight 30+ point & 10+ assist game, finishing with 31 points and 11 assists.  Mamadi Diakite posted a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out after 35 minutes.  Jamorko Pickett netted 23 points with eight rebounds and four steals in in 43 minutes.  Sam Merrill hit 5-of-8 three-pointers en route to 19 points with six assists in 33 minutes.  Cleveland surrendered 21 turnovers on the night that resulted in 24 points.

The Wolves were led by D.J. Carton’s 30 points on a perfect 12-of-12 from the field with nine assists and two blocks in 36 minutes off the bench.  P.J. Dozier added 22 points and eight boards in 33 minutes.  C.J. Elleby scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 35 minutes.  Iowa took control by being lights out offensively in the first half, scoring 78 points on 70% shooting from the field and 57% from three-point range to build a lead they would never relinquish.
