Newman Has Career Day in Charge Defeat

BRIDGEPORT, CT – The Cleveland Charge (2-12) of the NBA G League, presented by Cleveland Clinic, fell on the road to the Westchester Knicks (7-8), 141-100, at the Webster Bank Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Cleveland’s Malik Newman scored a career-high 40 points and tied a franchise record with eight made three-pointers, finishing 13-of-27 from the field overall in 40 minutes of action.  Justin James scored 26 points and nabbed two steals in 37 minutes.  Tacko Fall added seven points, 14 rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes

The Knicks had eight players score 10+ points and three score 20+, led by Brandon Williams’s 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting with 10 assists in 37 minutes.  Dewan Hernandez posted a double-double of 23 points and 12 boards with  four blocks in 32 minutes. Tyler Hall poured in 7-of-10 three-pointers and 22 total points with six assists in 30 minutes.

Westchester was white hot from three-point range, hitting 24-of-44 attempts from distance on the day and 7-of-13 in each of the first and fourth quarters.  The Knicks were at least 57% shooting from the field as a team in each of the game’s four quarters en route to scoring a Charge opponent season-high total for points in a game this season.
